We are pleased to share that our firm has expanded our regional footprint with a new subsidiary in Yangon, Myanmar. Incorporated on 1 July 2014, NTS Myanmar Co. Ltd (“NTS Myanmar”) will be an extension of our Singapore office by providing a full suite of Corporate Advisory Services for our clientele with Myanmar operations and new foreign investments into Myanmar. In addition, we aim to assist domestic businesses aspiring to venture abroad and/or seeking for overseas listing opportunities.

Myanmar is a country rich in precious stones, oil, natural gas and other mineral resources. The world's largest exporter of teak and a principal source of jade, pearls, rubies and sapphires. With a population of close to 60 million and residing on land area of 676,590 square km, it is the world's 24th most populous country, the world's 40th largest country and the second largest in Southeast Asia. Myanmar is fast becoming one of the hottest destinations for investments into ASEAN, aided by the rapid developments in infrastructure and continuous refinement of government policies to attract the international business community. The 2011/12 GDP of Myanmar is estimated at US$89 billion with growth of 5.9% which reveals an improvement from the GDP of US$82.7 billion and an annual rate of 5.5% recorded for 2010/11. The economy of Myanmar grew by 6.5% in 2012/13 and is expected to expand by 6.8% in 2013/14.

Located within the FMI Centre, our Myanmar office operating with local professional staff is headed by two of our directors who possess a good knowledge of local business practices, given their experience in serving Myanmar based public listed clients. In time to come, we aspire to grow our Myanmar advisory arm to more than 30 professional staff capable of providing various advisory services ranging from feasibility studies, setting up of business, outsourced accounting work, M&A due diligence, IPO advisory, technology advisory, tax structuring to governance and risk management.
